On Friday, 5 Feb 2021, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, made his first official state visit since he became the Prime Minister of Malaysia in March 2020. The country that hosted him – Indonesia.
It has been a tradition for newly appointed Malaysian Prime Minister to make Indonesia as the first country for a state visit. Malaysia and Indonesia shares a common language, culture, history and they are both Muslim dominant nation.
The bond is not only between government to government and leaders to leaders, but also at organisational and individual level. Both have many closed relatives across the border. To break such a bond will not be easy for those who are keen to see these two brethren nations to go into conflict.
Unity among the ummah is central to the agenda of GIUF. We are equally committed to build bridges between nations, governments, leaders, organisations and people.
